Motors TV is offering two lucky visitors the opportunity of a lifetime at January’s Autosport International Show in Birmingham where the High Speed Television Channel will host a competition to discover a new motorsport commentator and presenter.
With the help of experienced motorsport production company Hayfisher, half the channel’s stand (no.2765, Hall 20) will be transformed into a professional TV studio and commentary booth where anyone attending the show can ‘audition’ for a chance to join a British-based championship’s on-air talent in 2014.
All entries will then be whittled down to a shortlist of five commentators and five presenters, whose performances behind the microphone and in front of the camera will be assessed by @MotorsTV Twitter followers and a panel of industry experts. Collectively they will decide which budding Murray Walker or Steve Ryder has the potential to appear on the small screen for real.
With so few opportunities available to break into the realm of motorsport television coverage, it can be difficult for ‘ordinary’ fans to experience commentary and presenting. That, explained Motors TV Head of Programming and Acquisitions, Frederic Viger, was something the channel is keen to address.
“There are a lot of fans out there who are very vocal and passionate about motorsport coverage in general. I’m sure that many have the ability to both present and commentate but don’t have the access or contacts to get started. Well, this is their opportunity! Prove to us you’ve got what it takes and we’ll open those doors.
“Hayfisher, who have been very supportive production partners over the years, are fully behind the concept and have the resources to make it happen for real in 2014. All that’s missing are the candidates…”
The competition will be open across all four days of the show (January 9-12), with the ten shortlisted finalists from both categories announced at a later date. And don’t forget to tune in for the daily highlights programme from January 10 where a selection of the best and worst candidates will be featured!
