Interesting – Ricciardo is a bargain but I expect that will change in 2015. Raikkonen’s salary isn’t justified – he’s distinctly midfield these days and his pay cheque should reflect that.
Let you know what I think? I think 750k means Dan Ric is the best bang for ya buck anywhere in world sport!
I assume Lewis’ reflects his world championship? Will Nico’s leap up if he takes the crown this year?
The most eye catching difference is at Red Bull. Wow. Daniel surely MUST get a better contract for next year.
Also, two of the three top earners are performing poorly.
F1 driver salaries are getting out of control. At a time when some teams are struggling to survive, the big teams pay a driver salary equivalent to the whole budget for a smaller team. There should be a salary cap of say five million for a driver salary, but let them earn money for personal endorsements etc. Twenty plus million per year is obscene. How many engineers could a team employ just for that one driver salary? It’s crazy and needs addressing before f1 becomes like football, where few teams make a profit.
Amazing that Kimi has managed to bag himself such a deal especially when he was paid to leave the team. Time to change the management and organisation of Ferrari. Shameful! !
Red Bull is going to have to be paying a lot more to keep Daniel at next contract time.
Lots of drivers being paid too much considering performance. How does Jenson justify this much when he hasn’t looked like winning much for many years.
